Van Nelle Ontwerpfabriek

The Van Nelle Ontwerpfabriek is an imposing building with international appeal. It is of inestimable cultural and historical value, having the status of a nationally protected monument and being included on the UNESCO World Heritage list.

 
From the outside the building is monumental, but inside it is innovative and modern.  It was designed by the architects Van der Vlugt and Brinkman and built between  1925 and 1931.   It was designed around the concepts of light, air and space, inspired by the 'new building' philosophy of the past.
 
 For many years these buildings were factories producing coffee, tea and tobacco.  In the mid 1990s the factories were closed, and renovation work started in 1998. Nowadays they house inspiring offices and business workspaces.  The Van Nelle Ontwerpfabriek offers central facilities such as a reprographic service, mailboxes, coffee corner, restaurant, a central reception area and a conference centre. They also offer an attractive location for events, conferences, seminars, movie and theatre productions and photo-shoots.
      
The building offers its tenants a new and unique ICT concept and services.  All office units are equipped to the same high standard with the latest high grade data transfer and telecommunications cabling. The Van Nelle Ontwerpfabriek is primarily intended for businesses operating in the graphic media sector, communications, design, architecture, ICT and education.
 
As operator of the Van Nelle Ontwerpfabriek they pay much attention to a corporate social responsible operational management. Recently, the Van Nelle Ontwerpfabriek has received the A-label for sustainable management of monuments by the ministry of VROM and their efforts have been awarded with the Green Key (the international quality mark for environmental care in the department of recreational purposes).
